Generative AI and News Report 2025: How People Think About AI's Role in Journalism and Society
Felix Simon, Rasmus Kleis Nielsen, Richard Fletcher
Six-country survey (Argentina, Denmark, France, Japan, UK, USA) on public attitudes to AI in news. Weekly AI usage nearly doubled from 18% (2024) to 34% (2025); only 12% are comfortable with news made entirely by AI vs 62% for entirely human-made; only 33% believe journalists "always" or "often" check AI outputs. Quantifies public demand for human-in-the-loop oversight in journalism.
