Collaborating with AI Agents: Field Experiments on Teamwork, Productivity, and Performance

Synopsis

N=2,234 participants randomized to human-human or human-AI teams produce 11,024 ads; human ratings + X field experiment (~5M impressions). Human-AI teams produce 50% more ads per worker and higher text quality but homogeneous output; mechanisms include 25% more task-focused messaging and 17% more delegation, with a jagged frontier (text gains, image quality flat).
